If you haven’t guessed, the heart shaped lolly-pop represents love or love for candy and the tootsie roll is obvious. I love tootsie rolls. Check out my eBay auction.
My name is Phillip Krivenko and I love to paint and teach art.. I am slowly migrating to a stand-alone blog with my own URL. Please revisit me at: http://www.dailypainterblog.com

"Two Cherries as One",
I have been fascinated by the color and shape of cherries. This may be my tenth painting of cherries. As soon as summer is over and my wife Kathy stops buying cherries at the supermarket, this series of cherries may be ending.
Until then, I will have to think of something else. Mmm..
the ice cream place down the street has a new flavor, White House Cherry. I can paint that!
Last year they called to inform me that they were closing the gallery. I was not surprised they blamed the economy. I made a special trip to Charleston to pick up my unsold paintings. The cost of the trip reduced the profits of the four sold paintings.
The building is now vacant, Sophisticated Whimsy, is still painted on the window,as if the tenant is waiting for them to return. Sadly, I'm not.
Another reason to be a daily painter, I love the independence of being a daily painter.
No gallery, no worry about the gallery closing. No special one thousand mile trip. No commissions, a perfect transaction between me and an art patron.
On the other hand, the art gallery is important for the big sales of my "masterworks". These are the people who negotiate with our art patrons. Most represent us well and should be a part of our art business strategy.
Charleston is a big art community with many galleries. Time to peruse the galleries to see which one is a good fit for my art.
I had a painters block today which does not happen very often. I have so much inspiration around me, but that was not the problem. Sometimes an artist wants a new direction. Something to get real excited about. The muse was not with me today.
I was picking out a painting to do at one of my classes when I came across,”Teabox”. I have painted this subject in my classes several times in a 16x20 canvas. How would it look in a 6x6 size and how long would it take me. I can paint this particular painting with my eyes closed. I was right, Teabox on a 6x6 was an investment in time of only 45 minutes. A testament to practice and repetition. Will I sell it for less since because it took me less time? No!
Today's daily painting is, "Sunset Silhouette"
During my teenage years, we had a large porch on our house. My father enjoyed decorating for the summer patriotic holidays, spending much of his time grooming the lawn and shrubs. When finished, he would clean up then sit at a wicker table enjoying a beer and cucumber salad. Gazing out at the lawn with a smile of satisfaction, he would sip his beer. My mother would read, on a matching wicker sofa.
My first car was a 1960 Austin Healy Sprite. I had just turned sixteen. First, I have to say I really had great parents. My dad always bought convertibles until the eighties. My brother and I were a bit spoiled by our parents. My brother and I shared this car and I can only remember a few arguments on who gets the Sprite for the night. It usually had to do with either a girl or a great night to just cruise. So many memories I had to paint it. This one is not for sale or auction, but goes down in the stone tablets of my youth.
Today's daily painting titled, "Citrus Trio".
My wife Kathy was slicing lemons and limes for some warm weather drinks and sandwiches. Originally the plate had a tomato that looked out of place. So I changed it to an orange and called it, "Citrus Trio". I have listed this painting on Ebay with a starting bid of $49. BID NOW
A thumbnail of the photo from my iphone used to creat," A Gang of Orange Slices".
Daily painting today is, Low Country". Last year Kathy and I went to visit our niece Jenny and her new soon to be husband Tom in Charleston, SC. They took us to a Restaurant called Red's near water and marsh where I took a photo for this painting form the parking lot onto the marsh The sun was going down, leaving pink and oranges with a dark blue top. We had a great time and now we will be leaving this summer for a Wedding in Charleston.
I did this painting in Key West a few years ago. Ran out of paintings to post but I know some artist make a few in a week and post them periodically. So I guess I'm still legit.
Just finished two paintings with orange slices. I will be posting them tomorrow and Saturday after my class in Royersford, Pa.
On my iphone I have as app that is a digital Koi pond. you tap the class, get ripples, and the Koi run off the screen unitil the water calms.
On the Fresh Painters website, (i'm an associate member) Nancy Everett did a painting of a Koi. I liked it so much I took a screen shot of my Koi app and did a daily painting, Simply called Koi.
Spring is coming and I came up with this out of my head. Was not that hard to visualize, a tree and a flowered path.
The Sky a bit too blue, but I like the feel. Oil on canvas board 11x14.
A toy from my grand daughters birthday caught my attention. The Meow Kitty Piano, lots of features like a true electonic organ. Had fun. Wish I had bought it for her. My daily Painting.
Mary Ann attended my class in Mechanicsburg this Monday. We became facebook friends yesterday and today she reminded me of the Camphill, Pa Plien Air Festival. It runs in early June, too late for the entry deadline, but will definitely be there this summer.http://www.facebook.com/pages/Plein-Air-for-Camphill/130988316937820
In the last few months I have been co0ped-up in my studio waiting for spring to begin.
With the AC Moore stores discombobulated on a weekly basis, not knowing if they wanted to continue art classes or not, put me in a state of March madness, and I’m not talking about basketball.
Thankfully, AC Moore has decided to continue the classes with a few minor changes and alls well.
I love the process of creating so much that when it ends, even temporarily, it sends me into a brief tailspin. This dry spell has made me appreciate how much I really missed painting with my friends and students. Tomorrow I have a full class in Hanover, Pa, and I am ecstatic. Now, what is missing is the warm weather and the universe will be back in order.
Burning Falls is for sale on Ebay. These and others are up for sale on eBay. I still start some at a low price without a reserve. Pretty gutsy I know but I gotta get these pictures hanging on walls before it's too late. So, feel free to bid. Who knows but that these won't be worth more than the paper (canvas) they're written on someday.
We recently celebrated our 8th birthday on conducting classes at AC Moore, and we couldn't have done it without you. Whether you are a student or friend,YOU make it happen. thank you all, Phil
"Creek Crossing", sold on Ebay. Just signed up to print UPS labels from my computer. Now I have to buy a postal scale. What you loose on the bananas you make up on the apples.
Latley, I have been fascinated with cherries. Not for their taste but for their beauty. I paint them, because it is another overlooked beautiful thing.
Celebrated St. Pats Day with my friends tonight. Took a few photo I will upload this weekend.
To celebrate, I accepted an invitation to Fresh Daily Painters, really like what they do.
Middletown Class: just received a call the Middletown Class is on Hold until John Trank, district manager, authorizes the class.
Barbara, events specialist, will call on Monday, March 14th to verify the class will be held. My deepest apologies if this class is cancelled due to communication problems.
"Teabox", is tomorrow's class at AC Moore in Hanover, Pa
This week's daily painting, actually two days, and that's okay
The painting originated from a photo of fruit on my kitchen counter. Made a lot of changes in the color of the apples along with a more browner counter top.
This was an one hour painting, one of my daily paintings to stay limber until I hear from AC Moore.
My daily painting. Apples and a Banana on my kitchen counter. We have square dinner plates.
I took this iphone photo at my friends Mark and Pam’s house on New Year’s Eve.
The dolls sat on top of an amour in one of the bedrooms during a tour of their house before the celebration.
Not really happy with it,
I think it needs more work, I’ll think about it.
Wow! spent most of the day scraping ice of of sidewalks, our house and our nana's. Reminds me why I'm not living in Florida, It's because my family and friends live close.
I would like to thank Steve Sodergren for winning our action, "Mission Capistrano".
“The Ice Cream Vendor”, today’s daily painting. This was suppose to be a campanion to “Toy Store”, but it will not, unless I reduce the time line for this painting. If it takes me more than on hour and a half, I will not have the class time to mentor and give the amount of facetime to the students. Maybe if I remove the other pedestrians and just leave the vender, old woman, and two girls, it may work for a small class.
I'm walking around the house looking for something to paint. Promised myself I would paint a small canvas, 8x8.
If you do not want to post on facebook, you can do it on my blog at: http://www.krivenkostudio.com/page2/page2.html
I saw this blog where artist do a painting each day, a small painting 6x6 inches. This is a good idea for all my facebook students. The Idea is to do a small painting per day, okay, for many of us, maybe one per week. It would have to be a non-class painting of your own design. I’m thinking I would have a page on my website to show-off the talent of my students.
Slow moving on building a website when you don't know much about it. Decided on a Gallery Look.
Spent most of the weekend on my computer learning about video. Tonight was great, Lobster and Ice Cream (not together).
